Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Onsite Substation Safety Officer to join our growing Safety Department. This role is dedicated to overseeing safety operations at our substation and utility-scale projects. The ideal candidate will foster a proactive safety culture, ensure compliance with OSHA and industry standards, and work closely with field operations to safeguard our workforce and the public.
Serve as the primary safety representative on substation and high-voltage project sites.
Conduct daily safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments to ensure compliance with State Electrics Safety & Health Program, OSHA CFR 1926/1910, and client-specific requirements.
Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and client representatives to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
Develop and review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Pre-Task Plans, and Site-Specific Safety Plans tailored to substation environments.
Facilitate on-site safety orientations, toolbox talks, and lessons-learned sessions for employees and subcontractors.
Investigate and document incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; recommend and track corrective measures.
Provide technical guidance and support to field crews regarding electrical and substation safety protocols, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and compliance documentation.

Requirements/Qualifications:
Prior experience in utility, substation, or high-voltage construction safety management.
Bachelors degree in Safety and Occupational Health or a related field (or equivalent experience).
OSHA 30, BSCP Certifications (CHST)
Strong knowledge of OSHA CFR 1926/1910, NFPA 70E, and applicable electrical safety standards.
Exceptional communication and leadership skills; ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Skilled at multitasking, prioritizing, and problem-solving under field conditions.
Comfortable working at heights, around energized equipment, and in confined spaces.
Must be able to pass security background checks and drug screenings as required by clients.
