Overview Wind Turbine Technician II – Vestas Shady Oaks Windfarm - Paw Paw, IL Join to apply for the Wind Turbine Technician II role at Vestas. Sign-on bonus: $2,500 USD / $3,300 CAD. Location: Shady Oaks Windfarm, Paw Paw, IL. 1 1/2 hours west of Chicago. If you’re equipped with Basic Safety Training (BST), Basic Technical Training (BTT), and Advanced Rescue Training (ART) certifications from the Global Wind Organization (GWO), you may be positioned with an advantage. Note: This posting reflects current opportunities at Vestas and may be subject to change. What you’ll do In this position you’ll use your skills and experience to perform major correctives on a wide variety of wind turbine platforms/brands. You will work at heights and in confined spaces, exposed to the elements. This site will typically operate 5 days a week, 8-10 hours a day. The position may require up to 25% travel per year, with more travel (within driving distance) at the start of the position for training, as this is a new site start-up. The site will have 50 - V162 EnVentus 6MW turbines. Responsibilities Perform major corrective maintenance on wind turbine platforms/brands. Work at heights and in confined spaces with exposure to weather conditions. Travel up to 25% per year, with potential additional travel at start-up for training. Contribute to a new site start-up within the Shady Oaks Windfarm. Qualifications Safety-focused mindset. Positive attitude and ability to work in a team, with initiative in daily tasks. Ability to identify solutions to issues using process of elimination. At least a year of wind experience or a wind certificate with 2-3 years of experience in a mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical troubleshooting maintenance role.
