Job Description

A Special Education Teacher position is available for a full-time contract within a K-12 school setting, serving students from PreK 4 through grades 6-8. This role focuses on self-contained classrooms with moderate to severe needs, providing an excellent opportunity to apply specialized skills in behavior management and individualized instruction.

Responsibilities include:

• Designing and delivering tailored instruction for students with moderate to severe special education needs.
• Managing classroom behavior with effective strategies that support positive outcomes.
• Collaborating with educators, therapists, and support staff to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Monitoring student progress and adjusting teaching methods accordingly.
• Preparing necessary documentation and maintaining compliance with state educational standards.
• Utilizing scheduled prep time for lesson planning and professional development.

Qualifications:

• Certification in Massachusetts for Moderate Disabilities or Severe Disabilities.
• Proven experience working with students exhibiting behavioral challenges.
• Ability to engage and support PreK through grade 8 students in a self-contained classroom setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

The position is based in Winthrop, MA, offering a standard 37.5-hour workweek aligned with the schools bell schedule from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Preparation time is scheduled daily from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. This contract role extends through the school year, providing a structured and meaningful teaching experience.
