Job Description

We're building a world-class team of game-makers: folks bursting with creativity, who balance candor with compassion, and hold themselves and their peers accountable to what's best for players. We are looking for a Principal Character Concept Artist to join our team and help create the visual style of an all-new video game franchise. With a focus on stylized art, this Principal Concept Artist role will bring the game's many characters to life and help create an immersive and engaging experience for players. You will report directly to the Concept Art Lead. What you'll do: Collaborate closely with the Creative Director, Concept Art Lead, and other members of the art team to conceptualize and develop a unique pantheon of characters that embody the game's overall vision and style Create memorable characters and concept art, including sketches, turnarounds, and illustrations, to communicate design ideas to the team Coordinate with the 3D, animation, narrative, and design departments to ensure characters represent our vision and gameplay, and that designs are functional across teams Advance and improve concept art quality by facilitating and participating in team critiques and offering constructive feedback to team members Inspire and mentor concept artists to ensure team cohesion, and to guide and develop the team Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies, incorporating new techniques and approaches into your work You are a great fit if: You have 10+ years of experience as a concept artist in the video game industry, including at least one AAA title in a senior or principal role A portfolio of concept art that demonstrates your creativity, artistic skills, and ability to work within a creative vision An expert in creating stylized concept art for games with a clear art direction and a creative flair A strong grasp of traditional artistic skills such as composition, anatomy, color theory, and costume design An expert at using Photoshop or other equivalent concept art software You are a natural collaborator, willing to share, mentor, and partner with other teams A passion for gaming and the ability to bring a unique perspective to concept art design that enhances the game experience Please note - research shows that certain groups of candidates may not apply to jobs unless they meet every single requirement. What we offer: Annual salary range: $189,000-$240,000 Making great games is hard, so we do our best to make the other parts less hard.
