The Oncology Pharmacist at Carle Cancer Center provides specialized pharmaceutical care to cancer patients, supporting multiple clinical departments and ensuring safe medication practices. Responsibilities include interpreting physician orders, managing medication therapy, supervising pharmacy technicians, and participating in research and education. This role involves adherence to regulatory standards, patient education, and collaboration across healthcare teams to optimize treatment outcomes.

Overview

The Oncology Pharmacist provides pharmaceutical care to all patients of Carle Cancer Center, supports Oncology related situations in the Inpatient Pharmacy as well as supports providers in Urology, Ophthalmology, Gynecology, Research and Expanded Care.
Qualifications

Certifications: Licensed Pharmacist - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), Education: Bachelor's Degree: Pharmacy (Required), Work Experience: Clinical
Responsibilities

Assist in focused research studies and drug usage evaluations as assigned. Provide direct patient care by intervening as appropriate to improve prescribing, administration, and monitoring practices in the facility as related to medications. Represent the pharmacy on committees or work groups as assigned. Interpret physician medication orders and send the appropriate medication in a timely and accurate manner. Screen medication orders for potential interactions with other medications, diet orders, disease state, or stated allergies. Supervise the technicians in the preparation and dispensing of medications and parenterals. Make dose recommendations based on age, weight, hepatic andrenal function. Assist in the training and orientation of all new employees as assigned. Provide accurate and complete accounting of all controlled substances. Provide Medication Therapy Management Services / patient educationas defined in the Illinois Pharmacy Practice Act.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $51.41per hour - $88.43per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
