Job Title: Medical Records Clerk
Location: Wilmington, DE
Pay Rate: $20/hour
Temporary Assignment
SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Health Information Management Coordinator, the incumbent organizes, oversees and protects patient health information data. This is a highly visible position and the incumbent is expected to provide excellent customer service and set high standards of professional conduct and work performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Compiling, organizing, maintaining and protecting confidential medical records
Strictly adheres to HIPAA security standards when providing patient records to internal and external entities when requested.
Ensuring that health information systems comply with medical, legal and ethical standards
Enters and maintains information in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Monitors information in the EMR for accuracy
Observes trends in audits and denials in payers
Ensures providers and other healthcare staff can access medical information when and where they need it.
Provide dental medical records as legally requested.
Other duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
Provide timely, efficient and courteous response to valid medical records requests for patients and other organizations as legally requested
Maintains organized and secure health information systems.
Provide feedback for the improvement of medical records tasks and processes
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be HIPAA certified and compliant
3-5 years’ experience in a clinical or community resource setting
HIPAA STATEMENT
